Research Area B

Metrology and modelling for space gravimetry

Research Area B is dedicated to the design and modelling of new measurement concepts in satellite gravimetry.

Novel and highly precise sensor systems harvest from the heritage of LPF and GRACE-FO. We will investigate and model multi-sensor systems at the next level of precision and at the same time considering the measurement geometry and configurations, the measurement platforms, their environment, contaminations, and geophysical signals affecting the measurement process.

Research Area B will integrate and process the sensor data streams of space missions, such as GRACE-FO and beyond, and provide the methods needed to obtain clean data for the extraction of the gravitational information.
